urbanoutfittersshoep1 and thats my autumn footwear sorted

When it comes to that age old question of ’shoe or bag person?’, for me it has to be shoe every time. I’ve been searching for the perfect Autumn shoe for a couple of weeks now, and yesterday I found them. Although I love a good brogue as much as the next girl, I feel they just don’t look right on the end of my stumpy legs.

I wanted something as androgynous in design as a brogue along with its vintage charm, but with a small heel that would be comfortable enough to wear for a full day in the studio at University. I spotted this pair in Manchester Urban Outfitters store and at a reasonable £32, they had to be mine. If these have tickled your fancy you can get a pair for yourself here.

Crazy Pig’s Ideas is a recent addition to my Google Reader, and I’m already a loyal follower. I love Gabriela’s youthful outfits, inspiring DIYs and playful artwork she blogs about!

1. Name, age, location…
Gabriela, 16 years, Prague, Czech Republic.

2. What inspired you to start your delightful blog ‘Crazy Pig’s Ideas’?
The moment I saw a fashion blog, I admired all these outfits and articles, and I knew that it was something I would like to try, too. My friends had always been telling me that I was very creative, so I told myself I’ll try to share it with more people. And as I’m not really calm person and I used to like pigs, I called it ‘crazy pig’s ideas’ :-) !

3. What can somebody new to your blog expect to see?
They cab expect to see my outfits, based on my poor student’s budget, so it means a lot of thrift finds and DIYs. Then my drawings and photos that inspire me!

Quilted Beauties

shoe21 Quilted Beauties

Just had to show you these beauties I picked up in my local New Look store yesterday afternoon. Quilted, studded and grey suedette. They fit perfectly and give me those vital inches needed for a shortie like myself. Oh, did I mention they were just three English Pounds! Surprisingly they had quite a few pairs left so I grabbed my size before any other bargainistas could get their hands on them and a sneaky second pair for my Mum. She loved them too!

culture is no excuse

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

I’m sorry today’s post isn’t more styled up, I am literally typing this sat in a hoodie and cotton pants with hearts printed on – I guess we’re all allowed off days once in a while!

I spent the first hour of today sat in Cafe Nero with a large latte reading the Metro paper, please note that I’m not normally this self-indulgent! I came across this little snippit in the ‘letters section’ and I felt compelled to share it with you all. I wouldn’t normally post something quite so in-your-face but I do love a good rant once in a while and I think this guy does it perfectly!

On a lighter note, tomorrow I’ll be posting how I customised a mens XXL t-shirt into something a little more lady-like!

Another cold and rainy day here in the north of England which meant another opportunity to embrace cable knits! Now that I’ve moved back home for a while I have the help of my younger sister to take my outfit photos, she’s about to start a photography degree which will come in very handy when I have to shoot my final collection… (thanks Jess!).

Today’s outfit is made up of charity shop floral blouse, Topshop jeans, Schuh boots, Primark necklace and a freebie cardie from my work placement.

UPCOMING PROJECTS time to get creative

With just 4 weeks before I start back at University I plan on making the most of my free (ish – lots of uni projects to complete) time by getting creative with some DIY projects! Here is my list so far, of which I will be posting step-by-step tutorials of each …

1. create something amazing to wear with a metre of fabric

2. knit a shearling inspired scarf

3. embellish a pair of tights

4. create some art for my room at University

5. get round to making those cushions i’ve been designing in my head for the past few months
